Seems not a day goes by without yet another conspiracy theory so I decided to finish this and dedicate it to a dumb cause. This is how I see it - basically just meaningless confusion about what is or what isn't true, and everyone has a theory.
To demonstrate how pervasive this phenomenon is I will give you an example. I have just discovered - via my partner's relationship with Twitter - that Trump and Melania have contracted COVID. This is how the conversation goes in my head:
My first response is: 'Hell-yeh! I hope that fucker gets really sick'.
Then: 'I hope Melania is OK. I hope they don't die - I'd feel bad and Trump would be a dead hero'.
But: 'I sure hope Trump gets sick enough to learn some compassion'
Followed by: 'Hey.......wait a minute. What if this is just false news? Trump is losing in the polls. He looked really stupid during the debate and his own party aren't happy that he didn't denounce right-wing extremists. I wouldn't put it past him to fake this, pretend to catch COVID, recover and come out a conquering hero'.
You see - it's impossible to know what the truth is any more. I'll have to wait and see what develops.

My siblings and I have been emailing all morning here trying to figure out if this is just a political ploy of his. What have we become? Will we recover from this nightmare? I have no idea. I just hope it's actually true that he has the virus.

DeleteFelt all those things and more. Truthfully, initial reaction is die fucker die, but that is not my nature and I quickly backed off. I want him to feel what 213,448 americans felt before they passed away. I want him to see how effing hard our doctors and nurses have had to work to survive this craziness that he contributed to. I want him to take back the "No big deals" and "almost no one's" that he kept droning on about.
ReplyDeleteAnd finally, I will welcome the reduced anxiety of not having to watch his rallies where people (thinking people?) actually stand and cheer one of the most abhorrent human beings to come to power (at least in this country) for quite awhile.
Well said Linda and I absolutely agree. It's gobsmacking that the US has got to this point in history. I hope things get much better very soon.
DeleteI was pleased to hear that he had the virus and conspiracy didn't occur to me but when I read the idea it made a lot of sense. Its bad when we call every. single. story. about a world leader into question.

Kylie I shouldn't be but I am taken aback by the theatre thus man is capable of presenting as 'truth'. Trump must have absolutely no insight at all. And now he is leaving hosptital and has supposedly recovered he will be impossible because he was saved by a 'miracle' (his terminology) and has confirmation he is the messiah!! Something - SOMETHING has to give soon. He's like a damn cat with 9 lives.
