There's just too much going on to share. I spend so much time on the computer managing our Facebook group and researching and writing assignments, that I haven't been able to face blogging.
But amid the chaos and conspiracy theories, I managed to get the first COVID vaccination yesterday. Last night was a bit rough and I'm on Panadol, but I hope to be better tomorrow.
Hope you are all doing well.

I'm so glad to see a post here. I've missed your presence in the blog world. Also glad to know you've gotten your first vaccination shot. I'm wondering which one you were given. I had Moderna. The first shot went well, not much pain or side effects. The second shot was a bit harder. I had low-grade fever and a headache for 24 hours. Then it all resolved. It feels so good to feel safe. I hope all goes well for you. Take care there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin. We don't have much choice in Australia - it's kind of Astra Zeneca or nothing for our age group. Our federal government is either incompetent or deliberately obstructive in rolling out the vaccine. Many Aussies are complacent because we don't have much COVID here at all, so they just want to sit back and keep the borders closed. The corrupt right-wing government is cashing in on that smugness and apathy - they are going to an election next year and it suits them to leave things the way they are for now. I was vacillating myself, but I reckon it's just a matter of time before we get another outbreak.
DeleteI had missed you! Glad to know you're about and prioritising.
ReplyDeleteI became eligible for a vax almost four weeks ago but I didn't organise myself to get it before I was confined to hospital.
I'm generally vaccine sceptical but in this case, I don't think it's smart to avoid it
Bugger. I think I would want to be vaccinated if I was going into hospital! Tbh I have been in two minds but given the choices we seem to have, the vaccine seemed like the right one. Aussies live in a bubble and I reckon if they had seen footage of our own people dying like the Indians are, it would have shocked them to the core. We are so complacent in this country and so damn smug.
DeleteWelcome back Seashell, I hope everything is going well and congrats on your first shot! I'm finally eligible now but it's pretty bloody hard to find info on where to get the shot and how. It's like the guvmt is outsourcing the agency of every adult to sort it out for themselves.
ReplyDeleteLove the image.
Hey Sarah you can get the jab at Pioneer Health Clinic in Albany, or Denmark Medical Centre. They are doing Saturday clinics and it's quick and efficient. We felt like a truck had run over us for a day, took Panadol to manage it and all good now.
DeleteThe psychological effect is amazing - I feel like I have this shield of protection around me and we talked about how we didn't realise what an oppressive influence the threat of the virus had on us.
So true.
DeleteI've been online to check out what's available to me and it looks like I'll have to drive a long way and it's really hard to book. So thanks for that info.
